§ 17.56.150. Sign standards in residential zones (R1, R2, and R3).

The following shall apply to signs in R1, R2, and R3 residential zones:

A.

The following sign types are permitted:

1.

Construction signs;

2.

Flags, in accordance with Section 17.56.180 'Temporary Signs' for model homes;

3.

Home Occupation signs;

4.

Monument signs;

5.

Public Interest signs;

6.

Real Estate signs;

7.

Subdivision ID signs;

8.

Temporary signs.

B.

For nonresidential principal uses:

1.

Monument signs with a maximum sign area per sign face permitted for a nonresidential use shall be thirty-two (32) square feet.

2.

Maximum sign height is eight feet with a zero-foot setback outside of the visibility triangle.

3.

The area of individual letters as attached/wall signs shall be one-half (½) square feet for every one foot of building length.

C.

For residential uses:

1.

Subdivision identification signs up to thirty-two (32) square feet per face and eight feet in height with a zero foot setback are allowed at entrances to neighborhoods or subdivisions outside of the visibility triangle.

2.

For a residential subdivision identification sign, Planning Staff may approve up to a twenty-five (25) percent increase in total sign area if the sign is part of an architecturally designed entrance feature which includes walls, upgraded landscaping, hardscape, lighting, etc., in a cohesive manner so as to provide an aesthetically pleasing feature for the subdivision entrance.
